Just added a Topping Pre90 preamp. Regarding longevity of modern kit, it's all now constructed using surface mount devices (resistors and capacitors the size of pin heads). All assembled on auto assembly lines. So the quality control is better, though if any faults should develop it is easier to just replace the entire PCB.

I received the X26 Pro last week and have been listening to it for a few days now. I also connected my Topping D90 to the same Allo Digione via BNC connector and ran it to my Same Pre-amp, so it was easy to A/B between the two DACs with my Pre-amp switch. The X26 Pro is hooked to the Coax of the Digione.

The base preamplifier with ability to switch between RCA and XLR inputs costs US $599. There is an extension that gives you four (4) more inputs (three balanced and one unbalanced) for another $250.

Topping and Gustard are both excellent. I like the Topping brand better, but I woul recommend wichever has the looks, inputs, outputs, or brand you like. The objective performance is not really a differientiator between these two products.

For that I recently got the Topping Pre90 preamp to be able to use it as an XLR preamp with volume control. But, after that I notice that this combination doesn't sound right. After some reading and digging on the Pre90 review post I learned that it is an impedance mismatch between the Ares 2 and the Pre90.

Tried several Chinese DAC's including Denafrips ARES II, Gustard X16 and Topping D90 before moving up a level to the Gustard X26Pro which I really enjoy. WRT the Topping Pre90 though. I found a clearly bigger audible improvement when it came into my system vs any of the DAC's.

If you must have the knob and more inputs then the Pre90 may be a solution, or perhaps just get another top-performing quiet DAC that has a physical knob and sell the D70. If you are listening to DSD a lot it maybe another reason for the Pre90 to avoid internal conversion to PCM on the DAC for volume control there.

果然，再次驗證了是拓品在搞鬼 換上P26第一時間感受差異最大的是音場、人生 Pre90是縱向深深的音場 像是中型教堂的感覺，而我坐在中後排靠門口的位置 能感受到樂器的定位，但樂器之間比較靠近 P26則是寬敞型，像坐在中小型音樂廳的中間 聽交響樂的時候，可以非常清楚的分辨樂器的位置 P26能更清楚感受到樂器的定位在哪個位置，哪個樂器突然從哪邊發聲，都感受得到 氣勢、氛圍都有大大的提升 不知道是不是因為改OP有加分的關係？
